Evidence that perhaps points Google in a somewhat different but similar direction.  In this article I look at the new evidence and see how it could impact Google’s decisions.

It has long been speculated that Google, along with other search engines, would someday start looking at the length of your domain registrations to determine how legitimate your site is.  Well, according to Godaddy, they are starting to do just that. About 6 months ago Google applied for a patent, which they do often, thats states “Valuable (legitimate) domains are often paid for several years in advance, while doorway (illegitimate) domains rarely are used for more than a year”

All to often I come across sites that are slow or even go down for a few minutes.  Worse, I’ve had clients sites go down for days at a time due to hosting issues.

Google just announced that they are launching Google Web Analytics tonight.  Thats great news for a lot of people.

If you didnt know, Google bought Urchin a while back.  For the last few months they have been offering Urchin analytics for $199 per month.  We have been using it for about 6 months ourselves and love it.

Now it’s FREE!

Google has decided to make Urchin free to all their users as well as change the name to Google Analytics.

You can sign up by going to http://www.google.com/analytics or http://www.urchin.com

I feel sorry for all of the Web analytic companies out there, this is very bad news for them.

There are three major benefits to Article Marketing; Traffic, Links, and Branding. It’s tough to say which benefit is more important, since articles can be equally benefit to all three. In most cases however, regardless of what they initially expect, most of them quickly find that, when done right, articles will bring a ton of traffic, build your brand, and increase your search engine rankings.

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen all the major engines update in some form.  From major Google updates to minor MSN And Yahoo updates.  Sometimes these updates catch website owners off guard.

While the search engines are getting better at letting people know that updates are happening, sometimes they don’t always let us know in a timely fashion if at all.

In this article I look at some ways in which I’ve noticed updates before they happen.  These are some indicators you too can employ to watch for potential updates.

In the SEO industry we sometimes get too focused on designing a site with search engines in mind.  All too often we have to take a step back and say “what is the end user going to think of this?”

Sometimes the two conflict in that occasionally a user friendly design is not so search engine friendly, or a search engine friendly site seems too uninteresting for the average user.

But in between the user and the search engine there is one more aspect that some designers miss.  That is designing a site with the web browser in mind.  Not the actual user, but the software which renders the site.

In this article I look at some things to keep in mind when designing a browser friendly site.
