So, I woke up this morning and turned on my laptop to begin my daily routine of checking emails, web stats, blog entries, etc., when I noticed that I hadn’t yet loaded the Alexa toolbar on this particular machine. No biggie, I made a quick visit to Alexa’s site and had it installed in seconds.  After some re-arrangement I had all my toolbars exactly where I like them, Yahoo at the top, Alexa, and then Google at the bottom, closest to my cursor.  I was ready to quickly move on with my morning to-do list.

This is where the story gets interesting.

As I was reading through the news today I was thinking about how fast things are going these days.  Everyone is into tagging, feeds, photo uploads and more.  So of course I thought of the line from the Wizard of Oz - ‘Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My.’ Only this time its ‘Tagging and Uploading and Feeds, Oh My’ because that seems to be the topic of choice among the new products search engines are releasing these days.

There are those in our industry who will tell you that PageRank is dead.  I’ve been reading a lot lately about how we are supposed to ignore the green bar in our browser but you know what?  I disagree and I’m going to tell you why.

Hello Everyone.  I figured it would be a good idea to start a thread that introduces the Textlinkbrokers.com staff.  It’s always nice to put faces with the people that you work with on a regular basis.  I don’t want to embarrass anyone too much so I will leave names off for now. I myself am sitting on the floor in the center. This will probably come as a shock to those who had pre-conceived notions that I was much older then 28 years.

The following picture was taken at the Phoenix Corporate Office of Textlinkbrokers, which is a division of 360 Enterprises, Inc. 20 of the 38 employees that currently work for 360 are housed in Phoenix.  The day this picture was taken it was 115 degrees, with no relief in site, thus the reason we are all in shorts and t-shirts.  Probably one of the reasons Phoenix is one of the fastest growing hubs of computer nerds in the country; It’s simply way to hot to do anything besides sit on a computer all day.

I know some of you were expecting a bunch of old geezers in suits.  Contrary to popular belief most of us are in our mid to late 20’s except for a few ranging between 30 and 70.  Not bad for a company that has over 4000 clients worldwide, including 2 top ten Internet retailers and several fortune 500’s.

We Look forward to the next few years.  You can look for all sorts of new innovative products, services, and acquisitions from 360 Enterprises, Inc.

For those of you not familiar with “Creative Commons”, it is a term coined by creativecommons.org that is used to describe photos, music, and text that are freely available to reproduce/copy on your own websites/newsletters with the only condition being that you give credit to the author of the content you are reproducing.

So basically its free content.  All you have to do is provide a link to the original source.

Here are two places to search for “Free Content”

http://creativecommons.org/find/

-and-

http://search.yahoo.com/cc

For example, a Simple search for the word “SEO” produced 142,000 pages of content in Yahoo, most of which is free to use.

I’m sure many of you can think of a ways to utilize these tools.  For all of you link builders out there you should seriously consider licensing your website/content with creativecommons.org.  Syndication is one of the easiest and best ways to get free links.

For those of you that dont know who Dan Thies is, he is one of the most well known keyword specialist out there. Aaron Wall did an interview with him a few days ago.  A good portion is focused on discussing ways professional SEO’s market themselves and build links.  It then goes into depth about keyword research, which is a very important topic IMHO. There are lots of good links to resources and articles.
