Google increased itīs index and not by just a couple of hundreds of millions of pages,. not even by a billion pages, but by a whopping almost 4 billion pages. The index has almost doubled to over 8 BILLION pages.
There are more internet pages in their index than people on this planet. Also interesting to note is that they have many types of documents in their index, including HTML, PDF, PowerPoint, Flash, PostScript and JavaScript.
It will be interesting to see how well they are able to rank those documents. Especially javascript,.. would that mean that links in javascript now are followed? Are these links included in PageRank calculations? Time will tell.
Interesting how they always stay ahead of the competition by huge leaps. :)
You can read about it in the Google Blog. Entry for november 10.
