Many people may not know what TCP/IP is nor what its effect is on the internet.  The fact is, without TCP/IP there would be no internet.  And it is because of the American military that the internet exists.

I watched a program the other night in which they tracked down an ‘evil spammer’ to his home town and confronted him.  The way the show described the guy you would have thought he was someone nefarious.  But I started thinking, what is spam and who is more responsible?  The spammer or the spammee?

When AOL bought Time Warner a few years ago, many thought that AOL/Time Warner would become THE next media empire.  Of course this never happened, in fact, recently Time Warner removed the “AOL” from the company name.  So I started looking around at other online companies, and while many think Google or MSN will be the next major media site, I disagree.  I began looking at Yahoo and found some interesting things.  Could changes at Yahoo! make it the next likely to make a run for the media empire title?

Hello All,

I have posted this link before but with Google always increasing penalizations for duplicate content, I figured it was a good time to post it again.  This is a great tool for checking pages on your site to see if they are too similar.

Do you receive dozens/hundreds of emails a day?  Not spam email but actual email from customers, business aquaintances etc..?

If you do you probably have a hard time keeping them all organized.  Inevitably some of them will go unanswered and you willl lose sells, customers, important information, or worse.

I’ve written a quick article for disorganized Outlook users that could be very helpful especially if you receive a lot of important emails on a regular basis.

Observation:  the number of pages in Google’s index as indicated by their homepage display has been stuck at 4,285,199,774 since August 2003.

Observation: Googles uses a 4-byte variable for its document ID (this is built into Linux) and the maximum number of combinations it can produce is 4,294,967,296.

Possible Conclusion?: Google has run out of document IDs and is even now scrambling to re-write their software before they can add any pages to their index. This might help explain a few things such as - many sites getting dropped from the index, no PR updates in over 2 months (engineers & machines are busy with more important tasks), massive automatic penalization of sites.....

Here’s where I found this info.

Selling text ads is a normal practice probably since websites began to be used for commercial purposes. When Google came up with its PageRank algorithm, and people started to have access to the PageRank value through the Google toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com), they also gave (unwillingly?) the possibility to measure the value of a page.

Google owns PageRank and does not allow anybody to buy, sell or trade PageRank. Often people mistake buying, selling and trading links for buying, selling or trading pagerank, but there is a fundamental difference.
