Google personal finally graduates from beta and is open to the public, rumors of an MSN/AOL merger?  Plus Yahoo! instant searching, Ask Jeeves product search, eliminating PSA ads on AdSense and more today.

First to the big news.  Apparently MSN and AOL are in talks to perform some sort of merger. This would be a great coup for Microsoft and a hit to Google as AOL is still one of the larger ISP/search engines in the world.  Depending on what stats you believe, such a move could move MSN into second place in terms of reach.

I guess MSN has stepped up the battle between itself and Google.  First they take Google to court over the hire of a Chinese employee now this.  The whole Google/MSN battle just keeps getting better and better.

Google doesn’t seem too worried though.  First some funny news.  Apparently recruiters at the company have orders to “to hire every attractive single woman they can.”

Of course, this could be all heresay, but we do know of other Google news.  That is that Google personal came out of beta today and now is available to everyone.

In the last piece of Google news, apparently Google is now trying to inform webmasters when their sites have been removed from the index.  Great move Google!

Yahoo! has a new feature as well – Instant Search.  Now, Yahoo! can match results instantly. For example type in your city weather pops up a box before you press enter, or hit the submit button, showing the current weather and forecast.

Ask Jeeves also has new features.  Combined with other IAC properties, Ask is now providing product comparisons.  It’s supposed to use smart answers to help users find “the perfect gift.”

MSNBC has a cool new feature. They are using virtual earth and overlaying current news.  It’s pretty cool, be sure to check it out.

If you have AdSense on your site, this may interest you.  Apparently there is a way that you can reduce or eliminate PSA ads on your site.  This is so you can, of course, make more ad revenue.

I found an interesting post on how the Semantic web can be brought to fruition quicker, but that would require user input.  And then there is Tim Berners-Lee (the “father of the internet”) idea of how it should work.

Finally today, some cool gadgets for those kids who already have everything.  Hasbro is developing a PVR and projector aimed at kids.  Wait a minute!  There’s no way my kid is going to get a PVR or projector before me!

Well that’s all the news for today.  I’m sure we’ll hear more about the whole MSN/AOL talk, as the deal comes closer.
