There is some interesting news today.  From a new online music services, to new Google Sitemaps features to a new vending machine I need to get in my office.

First let’s look at the music news.  Warner is looking at introducing a new internet only music distribution service.  The service is planned to be in operation by the end of the year.  This could be a great way for up and coming artists to get discovered as they no longer will need a whole album of music, just enough to attract a label.

Apple computers is planning a major announcement next week.  One that’s supposed to rival the launch of the Ipod.  Rumors are that the company may be launching a video Ipod.

The last bit of music news involves a cool new music service called Pandora.  I played with this a little today and I must say I’m impressed.  For a monthly subscription (free to try) the system will help you find music to suit your tastes.  I tried some tests and it was able to quickly find music that matched my artists of choice.  It then creates an automatic play list of a bunch of music you should like.

Now to the Maps news.  Google has released mobile sitemaps.  This twist on Google sitemaps allows site owners to let Google know when they have updated the mobile version of their site.  For more information on how to use Google Sitemaps be sure to check out this site. On a site note, I noticed a new “verify” link next to the sitemaps I’ve submitted.  Not sure what this is yet but I’ll keep you informed.

Now to the “more” news.  Ask Jeeves in the UK has launched a new service.  You can now find directions on the site.  This is good news for Ask as it gets even more competitive.  And usually we see new services on the UK site shortly before they hit the .com site.  So I would expect to see directions and maps at the .com site in the next month or two.

Finally today, something I gotta get in my office:  A pizza vending machine.  Need I say more?
