Google Feature worries American Troops in Iraq... Daily Round up August 15, 2005

There isn’t a lot of news today:  One could be a significant announcement in that it’s future potential could be huge.  One is a Microsoft Search announcement and one involves Google.

Some in the US military are quite concerned with Google Earth.  A report on NBCSanDiego.com indicates that some troops are worried that US military bases in Iraq are visible in the software package, along with precise coordinates.  These images and coordinates could allow insurgents to plan attacks against the bases.

Ask Jeeves Sponsored Search launched officially today.  It is a CPC (Cost Per Click) program much like Google AdWords or Yahoo! Search Marketing.  MSN has also announced a paid program due out later this year.

Finally today, Search Engine Watch is reporting on new MSN Local Search features, via a mobile device.  There are links in the SEW post to the MSN Search blog with more information.

Yup it was a quiet day today…
