GoogleBowling - A new term!

For those of you that enjoy hearing new and exciting things about SEO and Linking, here is a new term for you.

Google Bowling (GoogleBowling) - The art of sabotaging a competitors rankings in Google by pointing a massive amount of over-optimized links to their site.

This term is the counter of GoogleBombing which means to use keywords in the link text of your incoming links to rank well for that keyword in Google.

There has long been theories that Google would eventually create an over-optimization penalty for those link builders who overuse keywords in their link text, those theories have become a reality for a lot of webmasters in the past few months.  With this in mind many people also believe that Google would never impose such a penalty because it would open up the floodgates of competitors sabotaging each other.

My Opinion?  Google does have such a filter (We’ve seen it in too many cases to simply ignore) and they could care less if competitors started sabotaging each other.

Here is a post over at threadwatch where you can discuss this topic.  http://www.threadwatch.org/node/2317

There are probably 100’s of other older posts throughout all of the other forums as well.
