It was an interesting couple of weeks as far as link building news goes. Still lots of debate over link baiting, as well as articles on why links matter, 66 strategies for getting links and more. So let’s get to it.
I’ve always been a fan of Search Engine Guide. And this week has been no exception. Jennifer Laycock has put together a great series on why links matter. Starting with part one and continuing through part two and part three, Laycock gives us a brief summary of what links are and how search engines use them.

Hello Everyone,
It’s been a while since I’ve made a post on the TLB blog. One of the reasons why is that I have been busy launching our new service SponsoredReviews.com.
We officially launched last week and the response has been awesome. We now have hundreds of bloggers signed up and the first advertisers are giving it rave reviews.
If you are not familiar with what a Sponsored Review is, let me give you a breakdown. A Sponsored Review is when you pay a blogger to write a review about your website/product/service. The blogger posts that review on their blog. As part of the review the blogger links back to your site.
There are a lot of reasons why Sponsored Reviews are great for links:
Embedded Links in Relevant Content- If you have been building links for a while you know the value of links that are embedded in relevant content. They are the kind of links the search engines love to see. All of your reviews will be unique and non-duplicate, which means every one of them will count towards your link popularity..
Multi-Tiered Linking- One of the things about these reviews is that they are located on blogs. Blogs are unique in that blog posts often get linked to by other bloggers. What this means is that not only will you get links from the blogger you paid to review you, but you will also get links to that post from other bloggers. There is nothing better then having links on a page that are getting linked to from other pages.
Authoritative & Relevant - With our system you are able to focus on relevant blogs within your industry. A high quality review written on a high quality relevant site, that links to you, is extremely powerful for search engine rankings.
Permanent & Affordable - Links from reviews are permanently archived and are a great value considering they start at $5.
With all that being said, reviews are not just about link building. I am focusing on the link building aspect since this is a link building blog, but the truth is that reviews are just as powerful for direct traffic and buzz building. A couple well timed reviews may be all you need to launch your new website or product. Hell, you could purchase 100’s of reviews and completely saturate the blogosphere.
